The photographs seen above are of the basic recruit classes. These classes are run on a quasi-military environment with a formal chain of command. Recruits are required to be alert on all occasions and notebooks are regularly checked. Classes are usually lecture, question and answer along with demonstrations. Every recruit is issued a laptop computer for their use while at the academy. The large classroom is setup for wireless internet capabilities and is used for virtual academy training through courses offered on line in the area of homeland security. In-service classes are much more relaxed and are usually taught with the adult learning environment method.
The police academy presently has three classrooms that are capable of seating
between 45 and 100 people. The two original classrooms after improvements
will seat 45 and 60 respectively and the new tiered level classroom will
seat 100 people. All classrooms will be equipped with the latest instructional
aids including front and rear projection video, DVD and power point capabilities.
