Sea Isle City is an island community located between Ocean City (to the north) and Avalon (to the south), wit the Atlantic Ocean bordering on the east and the Intra-Coastal waterway on the west. While employed for the summer in Sea Isle City, details may include foot patrol, bicycle patrol, traffic control, assisting full time officers, report writing, and various special details. Many of our Class II Officers work every summer during their college years, and move on to full time careers in law enforcement in local, state, or federal government.
Each summer season, Sea Isle City Police Department hires approximately 25 Class II Special Law Enforcement Officers, and 10 for the parking enforcement detail, which requires less demanding preparation, and are not training at the academy. Employment runs from May through Labor Day.
The current salary rates are:
Class II - $10.00 per hour (40 hour week schedule)
Parking Enforcement - $9.00 per hour (40 hour week schedule)
Applicants must be 18 years old prior to the beginning of training and have a high school degree. A driver's license is suggested but not mandatory.
Background checks and verbal interviews are conducted on everyone applying. If you are selected for a Class II position, psychological and physical testing takes place. Applications are accepted October 1st through March 1st.
