One of the few classes that is taught both on campus and off campus. After the classroom lecture and practise on driving simulators, the recruits are taken to the United States Coast Guard Base in Cape May, New Jersey for the behind the wheel exercises. Through a working agreement with the Coast Guard, the acadmey uses the air strip on the base to conduct the vehicle operations course. Recruits are instructed in various phases of police high speed driving and basic control of a police vehicle. An added benefit to completion of this course often gives the full time and summer employed officer discounts on their car insurance policy.
