The academy is the only academy in the state that certifies its recruits in water rescue through the Red Cross Community Water Rescue Program. With Cape May County being surrounded on three sides by water, this certification has given the police recruits the necessary skills to perform water rescues. Many officers have commented how this training has given them the confidence and ability to perform these stressful water rescues. Water rescue comes with certain advantages as shown by the last two photos.
