
The Wildwood Police Department is a 45 man department that serves a year round population of approximately 4500 citizens. During the summer months the population grows to approximately 50,000 and more. The department has a full time community policing unit, general patrol units, as well as a tactical team, bike and motorcycle patrol. New this year is a full-time school resource officer that serves Wildwood High School and grade school.
During the
summer months the Wildwood Police Department hires an additional 45 Special
Law Enforcement Officers (Class Two) that supplement the departments three
squads. Their is also day and night time boardwalk patrol units and a midtown
patrol unit. All Special Law Enforcement Officers start at $7.75 per hour
with a $.25 per hour increase for returnees. Special Law Enforcement Officers
are expected to handle all types of criminal and traffic enforcement.
